Comparing the 3 Apps
Anki — Maximum Customization
Pros: free (PC), full algorithm control, vast library of shared decks. Cons: UI feels like the 1990s, steep learning curve [1]. Initial setup is a barrier for ADHD users.

Quizlet — Easiest to Get Started
Pros: intuitive UI, easy to share with students, game modes. Cons: spaced repetition algorithm is not as refined as Anki’s. Free features are limited [2].
RemNote — Notes and Flashcards Integrated
Pros: automatically generates flashcards while taking notes, backlinks. Cons: app is still maturing, occasional bugs.
Which App for Whom?
- Medical students / serious learners → Anki
- Middle/high school students → Quizlet
- Integrating with PKM → RemNote
- ADHD users → Start with Quizlet, transition to Anki once comfortable
My Choice
I use Anki as my primary tool and share Quizlet with students. The spaced repetition algorithm (SM-2) developed by Piotr Wozniak has been validated over 30 years [3].
